Could you explain about dandruff in detail?

Dandruff affects more than 60% people. It is a mild form of eczema in which scales of the dead skin of the sebaceous glands. Sometimes dandruff can be confused with psoriasis; a condition in which skin cells multiplies abnormally fast, forming larger and thicker flakes.

Although I shampoo my hair regularly, I am besieged with the problem of dandruff. Could you suggest a remedy for my problem?
Dandruff is caused due to hormonal imbalance, bacterial or fungal infection on the scalp and poor hygiene. It could also be caused due to excessive use of hair care products and chemicals applied on the scalp or hereditary influences and emotional stress. Dandruff is difficult to get rid of because the scalp produces a new supply of flakes every three days. Medicated shampoos generally contain either sulphur, zinc selenium, tar or a combination of all these elements. You have to find one that suits you. If the dandruff suffering from seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis or some other condition, which may require expert medical help. Hence consult a dermatologist if the problem persists.
