Surgical and Non Surgical Face Lift - Mini Natural and Thermal Face Life

As we age, the face and the neck are subjected to both intrinsic aging, the natural, non environmental effect of time on the skin, and extrinsic aging, the effects of sun damage and environmental factors, such as smoking.

A face lift is the surgical way to repair sagging skin by tightening areas of the face and neck, especially the lower parts of the face. A face lift takes approximately two to four hours, performed by facial plastic surgeons. It usually requires intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Anyone over the age of thirty-five can consider a face-lift, but should consult a facial plastic surgeon.

A face lift is different from laser resurfacing and chemical peels, which remove the top layers of skin so that wrinkles (especially those around the eyes) are "ironed out" and younger, healthier skin regenerates. By contrast, a face lift tightens the skin by pulling it up; the body does not egenerate any new skin.

In order to tighten the skin on your face (and sometimes neck), the surgeon makes incisions through the skin, raises it up, and repositions it so it is tighter and looks firmer. The excess tissue is then removed. Although all surgical procedures leave scars, a skilled plastic surgeon hides scars from a face lift so they are not really noticeable. In women, scars are usually hidden in the hairline and the creases of the ears. In men, scars can be hidden in the hairline and in the sideburns.

After the procedure dressings and bandages are placed on the face for several days. Some redness, bruising, and swelling can be expected for a few weeks. Most people take one to two weeks off work to recuperate. It is very important you follow your plastic surgeon's detailed instructions.

As face-lifts do not prevent the sun and time from imposing their effects on your skin, future tuck-ups may be necessary if your skin starts to become loose again. You should minimize sun exposure and also use skin-care products recommended by your dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Fitness Tip

In your leisure times, opt for activities that excite you. Go to the park, walk the dog, plan picnics or do something more adventurous like hiking, rock-climbing paddle boating or scuba diving.

Beauty Tip

The 100-strokes rule of hair brushing has its roots in necessity. Before hair conditioners were invented, women relied on hair’s sebum to moisturize strands – getting the sebum from hair’s root to hair’s tips required vigorous brushing.
