Choosing the Right Hair Style

When choosing your new hair cut style you should consider -

  • which styles you like

  • which styles suit your lifestyle and hair type

  • which style of hair cut will look the most flattering on you.

Finding the Right Hair Cut Style for Your Face Shape

Your face shape most directly influences which hairstyles you are able to wear well — much more than the color or texture of your hair.

For a Diamond shaped faces choose a hairstyles which are widest at the cheekbones and narrow in the forehead and chin. By creating width at the forehead and minimising it at the cheekbones, the illusion of an oval face can be achieved.

For a round face choose a style with a short fringe, which lengthens the face and a short cut which makes the face look thinner. Round faces can add a bit of volume to the top of the head to slim down. Avoid spiky and short topside styling to your hair and any haircut that gives width or volumizes the sides of your face.

An oval face is often described as being the perfect shape. Because of the facial symmetry, individuals with an oval face can wear just about any hairstyle - from pixie short to long and full. Be sure not to wear a hairstyle that covers up your features, such as extra heavy bangs.

For a long face choose a hair style with short layers or bob style with a fringe which will create horizontal lines. Long faces can layer it on for fullness on sides. Short cuts, jaw-length bobs, or styles that add height on top are not for you.

For a heart shaped face choose a hair style that provides balance between the wideness of the forehead and the narrow chin. Bangs are looking nice , especially if you have a high forehead, but should not be squarely cut across the face. Avoid straight and thin styles which cling to the face, as these will accentuate your narrow jawline.
