Toe nail fungus - Picture, Causes, Symptoms and Treatment of Toe nail fungus

Toe Nail Fungus is also know as Onchyomycosis. It is rarely seen in children. It is seen to affect most of the people by age of 70. Toenails are more likely to be affected by fungus since it is attracted to a dark and damp environment which is more common on the foot than on the hand. The fungus grows in the nail bed and feeds on keratin, the protein them makes up the hard surface of the nail, then spreads to the warm and moist environment inside the patient's shoes and socks.

Symptoms of toe nail fungus

Symptoms of toe nail fungus include a peculiar color from brown or yellow to white, thickening, swelling or crumbling of the nail, streaks, spots and even complete loss of the nail. This fungus can be picked up in damp areas such as shower stalls, swimming pools or public gyms. It is contagious and also can be spread from one toe to another or other parts of the body including the fingernails.

What are the Causes of toenail fungus

Toenail fungus can be picked up in damp areas such as public gyms, shower stalls or swimming pools, and can be passed among family members. Athletes and people who wear tight-fitting shoes or tight hosiery that cause trauma to the toes or keep the feet from drying out are at higher risk.

Treatment and remedy of toe nail fungus

A fungal infection in nail is one of the most difficult nail conditions to cure. We should keep cutting the nail back and clean the dead tissue thoroughly. There may be little nail left. When the new nail grows, let it grow. We should continue the treatment until the nail is completely regrown.

Tea Tree Oil is a product of a species of tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) that grows in Australia. This oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties. By spreading it on the infected toenail, especially over the new growing part, near the cuticle, the fungus can be eliminated in a few months.

Since, toenails grow so slowly the complete process will take a year or more. Lactobacilli taken internally is a beneficial bacteria needed to inhibit bacteria needed to inhibit bad bacteria and fungus. The lack of sufficient friendly bacteria in the body can result in the growth of fungus under the around nails. The appearance of the nails can be improved by brushing with undercylenic acid.

Removal of the nail does not solve the problem of onchomycosis. When the new nail grows in, it almost always becomes reinfected. Antifungal Supplement is also used against toenail fungus. Apple cider Vinegar is food at high ting fingernail fungus.

Washing and thoroughly drying your feet really helps. Because toenail fungi likes warm, damp environments, if you keep your feet dry, the fungus will find it hard to survive. When drying your feet, use a towel vigorously to remove dead skin and improve circulation.

The fastest way to get rid of fingernail is vinegar mixed with 93% hydrogen peroxide. If you have severe fungus then try one cup Clorox to four caps water and again leave for about a minute.
