Hives is a skin eruption characterized by itchy, red bumps, swollen or elevated patches on the skin. It is also known as Urticaria, nettle rash or uredo. Hives usually appear in the form of one or more raised light red patches called wheals. Hives can also be caused by stress. Hives vary in size and can last for minutes or days.

Hives (Urticaria) may also Develop from:

  • Insect bites.
  • Extreme cold or sun exposure.
  • Infections like mononucleosis or illness.
  • Excessive perspiration.
  • Emotional stress.

Most Common Signs and Symptoms of Hives (Urticaria) are:

  • Itching.
  • Welts (bumps on skin)
  • Wheezing.
  • Dizziness.
  • Chest Tightness.
  • Swelling of the surface of the skin into red with clearly defined edges.
  • Angioedema ( face, Lip, Tongue swelling) may also occur with hives.
  • You may find difficulty in breathing and swallowing.
  • Your level of anxiety increases which causes rapid and irregular heart beat.
  • You may even suffer from loss of consciousness, dizziness or faintness.

Homemade hives Remedy

Simple home remedy for hives - A cold infusion of chickweed or chamomile may help to relieve itching, while herbs such as yarrow, golden seal, gentian and chamomile are recommended for improving the function of liver and digestive system. Thereby it may also help in treating the hives.

Good home remedy for hives - A person suffering from hives should take an ice cold shower or bath and after that sit in front of a fan at high speed for at least five minutes. This will help him get rid of hives and will also given him some instant relief.
Also he/she should wear thin clothes like a t-shirt .

Effective home remedy for hives - By dabbing milk of magnesia on the lesions, provides some relief. As milk of magnesia is an alkaline solution it helps in removing the irritating itchy sensation.

Natural home remedy for hives - Person's suffering from hives may drink a tea made with a couple teaspoons of powdered stinging nettles (you may also add some honey and/or lemon to it for flavor). This will prevent hives.

Take cayenne pepper in capsule form to aid the healing process.

To stop the itching get 1/2 a tub filled with warm water, add 1/2 cup cornstarch and 1/2 cup baking soda. Soaking yourself at least once a day can make a lot of difference.
