Day care centre can shorten the course of treatment in endemic areas. Urban day care centre gives initial scrubbing followed by sauna bath, rubbing of ointment for 1/2 hr and then another scrub with medicated soap and hot water. In rural areas, instead of sauna bath, patient are asked to stand in the hot sun for 10-20 minutes. Water is heated by putting it in the sun in steel tubs. Whole procedure takes an hour and the whole family is treated at the same time. Cure rate is about 95%. Boiling of clothes and interference with night life are avoided by giving day care centre treatment.
