What is Contact Dermatitis?

Eczema comes back when triggers are present in the environment or in your body. One of the most common types of this condition is contact dermatitis. If you notice swelling, reddish, or blistering skin regions, you might also be suffering from it.

As your skin condition worsens, there may also be some scales or crusts that you can see. If your case is severe, you may also notice dark and thickened skin. An eruption may not be evident but through a diagnosis, it can be obvious.

Where can you see contact dermatitis?

The location and shape of your contact dermatitis may give the most important clues. There may also be some lesions that are found as square patches or linear ones. In some cases, there are some people with obvious patches on their earlobes, underneath their watch or under their wristband.

What are the signs of contact dermatitis?

Allergic dermatitis found on your face can appear swollen, blistered, or reddish in color. Sometimes, however, it is hard to detect the allergens because many of us are exposed to triggers.

For example, you might be allergic to the cosmetic you apply your face because it contains chemicals, or the cause can also be airborne allergens. They all show similar skin reactions for you.

Irritant contact dermatitis shows different signs from redness of the skin to severe chapping and blisters. However, some people worsen their case through a prolonged exposure to these triggers. There are also some high concentration chemicals that are causing contact dermatitis to anyone.

What are you supposed to do now if you have contact dermatitis?

It is best advised that you seek for medical attention in diagnosing your condition because getting exposed to allergens, whether for a short or long time, can help your doctor check your condition.

In some cases, doctors conduct patch testing to patients when the condition is suspected. During the course, there are different allergy-inducing elements taped at your back for 2 days. When the tape is removed, the skin areas are checked to see possible reactions.

What happened when allergens are detected?

Once the substances or chemicals are detected sources of allergic reaction through patch or history testing, your condition can be relieved. You can also avoid the irritants or allergens, you may be advised by your doctor to have treatment for contact dermatitis to relieve the symptoms. Drying agents that are applied in weeping and blistered regions of the skin and moisturizers put on to severe lesions that are scaly and thick in appearance are both ameliorating.

When the allergen is causing your contact dermatitis is detected, it can be overcome. For instance, if your perfumes are your allergens, then you must learn on how to read the labels of your lotions and creams, and stay away from them.

If you are allergic to substances found in your cosmetics, you may turn to organic products that do not cause irritation. When your exposure to allergens cannot be prevented at work, wear some protection such as gloves or clothing. If there is no way to avoid exposure, you have to quit your job and find a new one.
