What Yoga Clothes to Wear in a Yoga Class

People think that Yoga is a sophisticated practice that would require them to wear glamorous clothes, thinking they would perform it better with fancy clothes. What they don’t recognize is that Yoga clothes don’t necessarily needs them to wear expensive clothes. If you like to shop for your Yoga clothes, think again, because the attire you might be looking for is already in your closet.

In your closet, you might find what you exactly needs. All you got to think of is wear clothes that are light and comfortable and that’s it. The clothes must enable you to move freely—to bend, reach, twist or stretch—and feel comfortable. The Integral Yoga Institute simply recommends students o wear loose, light clothes.

Undergarments Necessary Yoga Clothes

Your undergarments must provide you with support, and you shouldn’t feel bound by them. Wearing sports bras are perfectly fine, if they fit well and aren’t tight. Men also must wear proper undergarments that can provide them the support they need, and those must totally keep their private parts if they desire to wear shorts in their Yoga class.

Simple Tops as Yoga Clothes

Yoga students must wear light t-shirts or sweatshirts, or Indian kurta will fit quite nicely. Leotards can also be a good choice. A lot of women would prefer to wear a leotard with a tunic or big shirt over them. Go for something that will let you at ease and not self-conscious. This will allow you to move freely as you perform Yoga, and not something that will make you self-conscious. In some classes or session, you will be asked to do some upside down poses. Women want to make sure their breast will not be revealed and covered in asanas as a shoulder stand.

Bottoms Are Not In the Bottom List of Yoga Clothes

Apart from undergarments and tops, bottoms are equally important. You can search for different Yoga pants in many shopping malls, whether online or offline. Traditional pants used for Yoga are drawstring or elastic waist styles. Again, you don’t actually need to purchase a new one. You can utilize your sweatpants, tights or shorts. However, in case you want to wear tights, choose the one that ends at the ankle, leaving your feet free.

Unitards as a Great Choice for Yoga Clothes

Other people would prefer a one-piece garment over some choices. There are many styles of unitards that are especially designed for performing Yoga alone.

Footwear: A Necessity?

You might be wondering what could be the part of footwear in doing Yoga since it is usually practiced barefooted. This is the best way to perform Yoga though, because wearing shoes might not allow total flexibility. There are regular socks that can make you lose balance and slip. On the other hand, you can find Pilates socks which will not let you slip or lose balance. Another great option for footwear is ballet slippers that some people use.

Yoga Clothes Material

What are best for Yoga are natural fabrics and they are found in online shops that sell them. They are mostly made of rayon or cotton with a small part of spandex or Lycra, both good combinations for Yoga clothes.

There are different styles of Yoga, and so do are studios for this practice. Before you start out with a new Yoga class, call the Yoga school to inquire about their attire guidelines. There are some Yoga schools that are not strict on clothes, but some are modest and more conservative.

Fitness Tip

To find your waist-to-hip ratio, stand with your stomach relaxed. Find the narrowest point of your waist and measure. Next, find the widest part of your hips and buttocks and measure. Divide the waist measurement by the hip measurement. This is your waist-to-hip ratio.

Beauty Tip

Rub a rind of lemon over your face, this will lessen grease and whiten your complexion.
