Abdominal Strain - Lower Abdominal Muscle Strain - Symptoms and Treatment

     

Abdominal Strain is caused by overstretching of a abdominal muscle or tendon. Tendons attach muscles to bones.

Abdominal Strain Causes

Excessive stress being placed on muscle or tendon, often during sports.

Symptoms of Abdominal Strain

Pain, swelling and inability to use the muscle withoUt discomfon.

Investigations of Abdominal Strain

X-rays and ultrasound scans sometimes necessary to exclude a sprain or fracture.

Abdominal Strain Treatment

Rest, ice, compression and elevation initially. Strapping, pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications may be necessary.

Complications:Weakness in affected muscle may make future injury easier.
