Monilial Infection in Toes - Causes, Picture, Symptoms and Treatment of Monilial Vaginitis
In Monilial Toes the area in between and under the toes may be infected. The lesions show as moist, red, peeling areas with white, sodden epidermis which looks like wet blotting paper. This infection must be distinguished from tinea pedis and ordinary macerated skin. Treatment of Monilial ToesAll these conditions are treated with 1-3 per cent aqueous or spirituous solution (in 25-75 per cent spirit methylated) of gentian violet or tincture Merthiolate (P) or nystatin ointment or imidizole derivatives like chlormidazole, miconazole, econazole lotion or cream. They must be applied twice a day, and the treatment must be persisted with, till all evidence of infection has cleared up. Reports indicate the usefulness of amphotericin- B topically in superficial moniliasis and intravenously in systemic candida infections. Home remedies to treat Monilial ToesCandicidin spray and powder are also very useful. The affected parts must be kept constantly dry. Underlying predisposing causes like obesity and diabetes must be corrected.
