Obaji Blue Peel - Uses and Benefits of Blue Peel

Blue Peel was developed, trademarked, and. marketed by Zein Obaji, M.D., a California dermatologist.

This is a medium-depth chemical peel that uses a 30-percent trichloroacetic acid (TCA) solution and turns it into a somewhat safer paste, with a final concentration falling within the 15 to 20 percent range.

The Blue Peel lessens sun-damaged skin, wrinkles, unwanted brown spots, and superficial acne scars.

Dr. Obaji added a blue hue to this peel in order to determine the consistency and uniformity of its effect on the skin.

Therefore, your doctor can tell by the shade of blue how deep the peel has penetrated your skin.

When penetration reaches the right depth, the face is then scrubbed with a green cleansing soap to remove the blue glow.

This peel is somewhat painful. You will probably want to take a light oral sedative before the procedure.

Afterward, expect redness and peeling for several days to two weeks, depending on the strength of your peel.

A few side effects have been reported, including activation of herpes infection, severe scabbing, pigmentation irregularities, and scarring.

The use of the antiwrinkle cream Renova for several weeks prior to a Blue Peel will enhance its effectiveness.

Aerobic exercise increases the efficiency of gas exchange in the lungs and improves the working of the respiratory muscles.

Beauty Tip

Nails are formed from keratin, the tough protein that also makes up hair and skin. They grow from the matrix, which lies beneath a fold of skin (the cuticle). The growing nail slides forward over the nail-bed, an area rich in blood vessels.
