Breast Lift - Picture, Surgery, Cost and Procedure of Breast Lift
For many women, age, gravity, pregnancy, and breast-feeding contribute to loose and sagging breasts. A breast lift, also known as mastoplexy, is an outpatient procedure many women undergo to regain the firm breasts they may have lost due to one or more of these factors. Performed by plastic surgeons, mastoplexy reshapes your breasts so that they are higher and firmer. Unlike breast augmentation, mastoplexy does not increase the size of your breasts. However, breast lift surgery can be performed in conjunction with breast augmentation. The process is as follows: Under general anesthesia, your surgeon basically removes excess skin and places your nipples higher up on your breasts. Incisions are usually made around your nipple and the contours of your breasts. Mastoplexy is usually completed in less than three hours. Breast lift surgery is usually performed in your plastic surgeon's office or in an outpatient surgical center at your local hospital. Occasionally, people may stay in the hospital for a day or two. After the surgery, your breasts may be bruised, tender, and swollen. It is important to follow your plastic surgeon's aftercare instructions carefully. Although it is rare, infection, bleeding, or loss of sensation around the nipples can occur. The benefits of breast lift surgery are not permanent and you can expect that the effects of gravity will eventually cause your breasts to sag again in the future. |
