Homemade Exfoliators - Home made Exfoliators
Our skin is always renewing and replenishing its top layer of cells. Exfoliators help speed up this process by removing dead skin cells and allowing the new skin layer to emerge. Exfoliators do not remove wrinkles or lessen sun-damaged skin. Because they help bring newer skin to the surface more rapidly, the skin will look better. Exfoliators are most often used on the face. Exfoliators are available over the counter or as procedures in spas and salons. Some over the-counter exfoliators include moisturizers containing the fruit acid glycolic acid (an alphahydroxy acid), lactic acid (an alphahydroxy acid), and salicylic acid (a betahydroxy-like acid). These products are available in pharmacies, department stores, and salons. Semiabrasive scrubs such as the Buf-Puf, or even mild sanding products, can be purchased over the counter at salons, department stores, and pharmacies. These abrasive scrubs should be used gently so they don't over irritate and burn the skin. Professional salon procedures such as facials also exfoliate dead skin cells. Prescription-strength alpha and beta hydroxy acid products, the anti wrinkle cream Renova, and chemical peels not only exfoliate, but also lessen sun-damaged skin and provide an overall smoother appearance to the skin. |
