Chin implants - Picture and Cost of Chin implants Surgery

Because the chin may have receded with time, chin implants restore its prominence, thereby making the entire face appear more sturdy and youthful.

Often, chin implants are needed after a nose job, or rhinoplasty, in order to even out the face and make the chin aesthetically compatible with the nose.

Chin implants are also often performed after liposuction under the chin to even out the facial profile. Chin implants are usually performed by plastic surgeons, only occasionally by dermatologists.

Several filling substances are now available to fill the chin area, such as Silastic Gore-Tex or fat. Fat can be removed from your hip with a syringe, and prepared by the physician so that it can be injected into your chin.

You can't have an allergic reaction to your own fat. On the other hand, because the fat transplanted into the chin is eventually absorbed, the result doesn't last long, unless the procedure is repeated occasionally.

In contrast, Silastic and Gore-Tex are synthetic, permanent materials that should last a lifetime. Silastic is sturdy, but bendable plastic-like material that is inserted through a small incision site in the middle of your chin, and then fitted into your chin by covering it from one side of your jawbone to the other.

Gore-Tex comes in somewhat more flexible sheets or blocks that can be placed into a small incision in your chin with a special instrument.

The chin area is numbed with local anesthesia, and the outpatient procedure is normally completed in less than an hour. Sometimes intravenous or oral sedatives are used. Side effects include temporary bruising, swelling, and tenderness.

Fitness Tip

As well as being sweet and delicious, fruit is full of fiber, vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates. Nutritionists recommend that you eat two to four serving of fruit a day.

Beauty Tip

Trimming your hair does not make it grow faster, but it removes splitting ends that can split upto 7.5 cm (3 inches) of your hairs length.
